Jamaica on Wednesday recorded 283 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number to 125,250.
There were two additional deaths, increasing the figure to 2,677. One death was coincidental, increasing the number of coincidental deaths to 208. Six deaths are under investigation, increasing the number of deaths under investigation to 408.
The deceased are:
- An 89-year-old woman from Kingston and St Andrew
- A 70-year-old man from Kingston and St Andrew
The deaths occurred in January 2022.
The positivity rate increased from 21.6 per cent to 25.4 per cent. The total number of tests: 2,056.
Of the 283 new cases, Kingston and St Andrew accounted for the highest number with 97.
St Catherine in the meantime, accounted for the second-highest number of cases with 47; St James followed with 36; St Thomas with 22; St Elizabeth and Manchester with 19 each; Westmoreland with 13; Clarendon with 11; St Ann with 8; Trelawny with 6; Portland and St Mary with 2 each; Hanover with 1.
