Jamaica on Thursday recorded 34 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number to 128,142.
There were ten additional deaths, increasing the figure to 2,825. One death was coincidental, increasing the number of coincidental deaths to 225. There are no deaths under investigation.
The deceased are:
- A 50-year-old woman from St Catherine (died March – November 2021)
- A 61-year-old woman from St Catherine (died March – November 2021)
- A 58-year-old man from St Catherine (died March – November 2021)
- An 87-year-old man from St Catherine (died March – November 2021)
- A 65-year-old man from St Catherine (died March – November 2021)
- An 85-year-old man from St Ann (died February 2022)
- A 73-year-old man from St Ann (died February 2022)
- An 51-year-old man from St Ann (died February 2022)
- An 87-year-old man from St Ann (died February 2022)
- An 84-year-old man from St Mary (died February 2022)
The positivity rate increased from 4.6 per cent to 5 per cent. The total number of tests: 1,827.
Of the 34 new cases, St Catherine accounted for the highest number with 8.
St James in the meantime, accounted for the second-highest number of cases with 7; Manchester followed with 5; Kingston and St Andrew and Clarendon with 3 each; St Ann and St Thomas with 2 each; Westmoreland, Hanover, St Elizabeth and St Mary with 1 each. Portland and Trelawny recorded no new cases.
