51 COVID-19 cases, 19 deaths

Jamaica on Tuesday recorded 51 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number to 86,507.

There were 19 additional deaths, increasing the figure to 2,053. One death is under investigation increasing the figure to 318. Two deaths are coincidental, bringing the total coincidental deaths to 182.

The deceased are:

  • An 84-year-old man from Hanover
  • A 52-year-old man from Hanover
  • A 68-year-old man from Hanover
  • A 69-year-old woman from Hanover
  • A 93-year-old woman from Hanover
  • A 68-year-old man from Hanover
  • A 54-year-old woman from Hanover
  • A 53-year-old man from Hanover
  • An 85-year-old woman from Hanover
  • A 57-year-old woman from Hanover
  • A 68-year-old woman from Hanover
  • A 65-year-old man from Hanover
  • A 43-year-old man from Hanover
  • A 45-year-old woman from Hanover
  • A 69-year-old woman from St Ann
  • An 88-year-old man from St Ann
  • A 34-year-old woman from St James
  • A 72-year-old man from St Catherine  
  • An 86-year-old woman from St Catherine

The deaths occurred between July 31 and October 10, 2021.

The positivity rate decreased from 13.2 per cent to 8.8 per cent. Number of tests: 683.

Of the 51 new cases, Kingston and St Andrew accounted for the highest number with 19.

St Catherine, in the meantime, accounted for the second-highest number of cases with 10; St Mary followed with 8; Clarendon with 6; Portland and Westmoreland with 3 each; St James and St Ann with 1 each; Hanover, St Elizabeth, Manchester, Trelawny and St Thomas recorded no new cases.
