Jamaica on Wednesday recorded 58 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number to 127,799.
There were ten additional deaths, increasing the figure to 2,808. One death was coincidental, increasing the number of coincidental deaths to 224. There are no deaths are under investigation.
The deceased are:
- A 77-year-old man from St Catherine (died in December, 2020)
- A 67-year-old man from St Catherine (died May – October, 2021)
- A 61-year-old man from Hanover (died May – October, 2021)
- An 83-year-old man from Hanover (died May – October, 2021)
- A 55-year-old man from Kingston and St Andrew (died in February 2022)
- An 87-year-old man from Kingston and St Andrew (died in February 2022)
- A 93-year-old woman from Clarendon (died in February 2022)
- A 50-year-old man from Clarendon (died in February 2022)
- A 77-year-old man from St Catherine (died in February 2022)
- A 65-year-old woman from St Elizabeth (died in February 2022)
The positivity rate decreased from 7 per cent to 5.6 per cent. The total number of tests: 2,227.
Of the 58 new cases, St Elizabeth accounted for the highest number with 17.
Kingston and St Andrew in the meantime, accounted for the second-highest number of cases with 14; St James followed with 6; Trelawny with 5; Hanover and Manchester with 3 each; Portland, St Ann, St Catherine, St Thomas with 2 each; St Mary and Westmoreland with 1 each. Clarendon recorded no new cases.
