838 COVID-19 cases, 22 deaths

Jamaica on Saturday recorded 838 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number to 119,565.

There were 22 additional deaths, increasing the figure to 2,594. There were no coincidental deaths. One death is under investigation. However, the number of deaths under investigation decreased to 377.

The deceased are:

  • A 66-year-old woman from Kingston and St Andrew
  • A 71-year-old man from St Catherine
  • A 76-year-old woman from St Catherine

These deaths occurred in September 2021.

  • A 94-year-old woman from Kingston and St Andrew
  • A 89-year-old woman from Kingston and St Andrew
  • A 81-year-old woman from Kingston and St Andrew
  • A 68-year-old woman from Kingston and St Andrew
  • A 85-year-old woman from Kingston and St Andrew
  • A 75-year-old woman from Kingston and St Andrew
  • A 77-year-old man from Kingston and St Andrew
  • A 93-year-old man from Kingston and St Andrew
  • A 74-year-old man from St Catherine
  • A 88-year-old woman from St Catherine
  • A 65-year-old man from St Ann
  • A 90-year-old woman from St Ann
  • A 71-year-old man from St Catherine
  • A 73-year-old woman from Portland
  • A 72-year-old man from St Mary
  • A 76-year-old man from St Mary
  • A 73-year-old man from St Mary
  • A 64-year-old woman from St James
  • A 93-year-old woman from Clarendon

The deaths occurred between January 11 – 21, 2022.

The positivity rate increased from 52.1 per cent to 53.6 per cent. Number of tests: 2,861.

Of the 838 new cases, Kingston and St Andrew accounted for the highest number with 211.

St Catherine, in the meantime, accounted for the second-highest number of cases with 188; St James followed with 86; Manchester with 67; St Elizabeth with 66; Clarendon with 52; St Ann with 43; Portland with 39; Westmoreland with 31; St Thomas with 20; Trelawny with 14; Hanover with 11; St Mary with 10.
