The Meteorological Service of Jamaica (Met Service) says a flash flood warning is now in effect for low-lying and flood-prone areas of eastern and central parishes.

This, the Met Service said in a tweet this morning, is due to the heavy rains being produced over Jamaica by a tropical wave.

It said flash flooding has been observed in these parishes.
