Deputy Commissioner of Police Fitz Bailey says the JCF is getting better at what they do. In his comments released yesterday in relation to Natalie Dawkins who has been missing since March 30, DCP Bailey issued a warning to criminals.
“Those who continue to perpetrate crimes, we will get at you,” he said
We are getting better at what we do. We are building capacity, in terms of investigative capacity, in terms of technology, in terms of science… we are expanding our capacity.
He went on further to say the traditional detective type investigation was also manifested in this investigation.
Investigative leads led lawmen to a shallow grave in Sandy Bay, Clarendon on Thursday, April 08, where skeletal remains believed to be that of 44-year-old Natalie Dawkins, a teacher of Denbigh Kraal, Clarendon, were found.
Detectives secured investigative evidence which steered them to the detention of three men in connection with the incident.
Reports are that on Tuesday, March 30, Dawkins was last seen at home about 11:30 a.m., and has not been heard from since. An investigation was launched and it was observed that her car and other items were missing. Further investigation revealed that her handbag was thrown on Highway 2000, in St. Catherine.
On April 03, lawmen conducted a joint Police/ Military operation in Bellfield district, Brown’s Hall, St. Catherine where a suspect, – 22-year-old Jeff Bedward of Beller’s Gate in St Catherine and Sandy Bay in Clarendon was fatally shot during a confrontation. One .38 Revolver firearm with three .38 cartridges as well as Dawkin’s car was removed from the scene.
On Thursday, April 08, detectives located a shallow grave in Sandy Bay where human remains, believed to be that of the teacher were found. The scene was processed and the fragments were removed to the morgue.
No conclusive motive has been established for the killing.
