Law enforcement and the Jamaican justice system have delivered a blow to one of the country’s most feared criminal organizations with the conviction of fifteen (15) thugs associated with the St. Catherine-based Klansman Gang.

The evidence and conviction phase of the Klansman trial ended on Wednesday with Chief Justice Bryan Sykes finding 15 people guilty of an array of criminal offences.

Andre ‘Blackman’ Bryan and his chief lieutenant Stephanie Cole-Christie lead the list of people convicted by Justice Sykes.

Blackman had over the years developed a reputation as one of the country’s most ruthless killers.

He was found guilty of being the leader of the One Don faction of the Klansman Gang which is a breakaway faction of the Tesha Miller-led Klansman Gang.

Christie was found guilty of being a member of a criminal organization.

Apart from Bryan and Cole-Christie, thirteen others were convicted of a range of crimes including murder, conspiracy to commit murder, arson, illegal possession of firearm and ammunition and membership of a criminal organization.

Among the convicts are – Ted Prince, Michael Whitely, Dylon McLean, Fabian Johnson, Jahzeel Blake, Roel Taylor, Joseph McDermott, Tareek James, Jermaine Robinson, Tomrick Taylor, Brian Morris, Andrae Golding and Lamar Simpson

Justice Sykes found that the evidence was not enough to convict several of the alleged gangsters including Jason Brown, Marco Miller, Pete Miller, Ricardo Thomas and Carl Beech.

However, Brown, who’s otherwise known as City Puss, remains in prison because he’s serving a life sentence following a murder conviction in 2012.

Justice Sykes is to begin sentencing the fifteen convicted on July 3 this year.

The 15 convicts are expected to face custodial sentences according to the anti-gang law which recommends prison time for a range of offences.
