Jamaica on Wednesday recorded 215 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number to 86,722.
There were 6 additional deaths, increasing the figure to 2,059. One death is under investigation increasing the figure to 319.
The deceased are:
- An 82-year-old woman from St Elizabeth
- A 65-year old man from St Elizabeth
- A 76-year old man from St Elizabeth
- A 90-year old man from St Elizabeth
- A 75-year old woman from St Elizabeth
- A 73-year old man from St Catherine
The deaths occurred between September 8 and October 12, 2021.
The positivity rate increased from 13.2 per cent to 18.1 per cent. Number of tests: 1,379.
Of the 215 new cases, Kingston and St Andrew accounted for the highest number with 61.
St Catherine, in the meantime, accounted for the second-highest number of cases with 55; St Thomas followed with 26; St Elizabeth with 13; Clarendon with 10; St James with 9; Portland and Hanover with 8 each; Trelawny, Westmoreland and St Ann with 7 each; Manchester with 4; St Mary recorded no new cases.
