A 26-year-old labourer of St Ann was arrested and charged with illegal possession of firearm and ammunition following an incident at a church in the parish on Monday, September 20.

He is Alex Brown of Garden Tenant Road in the parish.

Reports from the Police are that about 3:20 p.m., Brown was among a congregration when lawmen visited the location and conducted a search. One homemade firearm containing one 12-gauge cartridge was taken from a bag he had in his possession.

Brown was arrested and charged; his court date is being finalised.
