As the 2024 Olympic Games prepare to get on the way in the “City of Love” Paris, 300,000 condoms have been issued to athletes competing in the French capital.
News of the provided contraceptives comes weeks following unconfirmed reports of a “sex ban” during the games as well as anti-sex-designed beds inside the dorms of the Olympic Village.
The condoms were among other items provided as part of the athletes’ welcome package which included; water bottles, toiletries bags and a phohe.
Canadian Sailor Sarah Douglas shared an insight into the goodie bag.
The volume of condoms provided in Paris doubled the reported 150,000 distributed at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics but represents a steep drop from the 450,000 issued in 2016 for the Rio-hosted Games.
The Olympic Village is expected to house over 14,000 athletes and officials during the Paris Games, set to run from July 26- August 11.
