Several bottles of the Fabuloso cleaning disinfectants issued from December 14, 2022, to January 23, 2023, were recalled in the US and Canada on Wednesday over a risk of bacterial contamination.

Some of the affected products include Lavender Scent cleaners, Refreshing Lemon Scent cleaners, Passion of Fruits Scent cleaners, Spring Fresh Scent cleaners, and Ocean Scent cleaners.

A release from the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (USCPC) alluded that 4.9 million bottles in the US and over 56 thousand bottles in Canada contained Pseudomonas species bacteria which is said to cause infections in the blood, lungs, or other parts of the body in humans and is highly resistant to antibiotics.

While no reports of injuries or illnesses have been made public since the recall, the USPC has urged consumers who frequent Amazon and other national retailers such as Dollar General, Family Dollar, The Home Depot, Sam’s Club, and Walmart to immediately stop using the recalled Fabuloso products and contact Colgate-Palmolive Company for a full refund or a free replacement.

Fabuloso also outlined in a statement that the manufacturing issue has since been corrected and that their other multipurpose cleaning products are not subject to recall.
