537 COVID-19 cases, 5 deaths

Jamaica yesterday recorded 537 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number to 79,127.

There were 5 additional deaths, increasing the figure to 1,777. One deaths are under investigation, increasing the figure to 262.

The victims are a 71-year-old woman from St Catherine, a 74-year-old woman from St Catherine, a 70-year-old man also from St Catherine, a 71-year-old man from St Ann and a 61-year-old man also from St An
The deaths occurred between September 15 and September 16.

The positivity rate increased from 37.5 per cent to 37.7 per cent. Number of tests: 2,493

Of the 537 new cases, St Catherine accounted for the highest number with 126.

Kingston and St Andrew, in the meantime, accounted for the second-highest number of cases with 107; St James followed with 56; St Ann with 46; St Elizabeth with 40; Clarendon 37; Manchester 27; Trelawny 22; Westmoreland 21; Hanover 15, Portland with 9 and St Thomas with 7.

On Wednesday, Jamaica recorded 601 COVID-19 cases and 4 deaths.
