$90 million worth of cocaine seized at Norman Manley International Airport

The Narcotics Police seized 12 pounds of cocaine with an estimated street value of $90,603,000 at the Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston on Monday.

According to reports, at around 7:00 a.m., anomalies were detected in a suitcase tagged for the United States during routine security checks.

Subsequently, a search was conducted and yielded the parcels of the illicit drug.

Police reports also outlined that a manhunt was also launched for the suspect linked to the seizure; The suspect, however, was later apprehended in the Kingston 6 vicinity.

The suspect is also expected to be charged at a later date on suspicion of breaches of the Dangerous Drug Act.

His identity is being withheld pending further investigations.
