Jamaica and West Indies women’s cricket captain Stafanie Taylor continues to play her way into the record books, after becoming the first woman to score 5000 runs and take 150 wickets in One-Day International (ODI).
Taylor achieved the feat after snaring crucial wickets in the Windies’ narrow 4-run victory over Bangladesh in the ODI World Cup currently underway in New Zealand on Thursday.
The Windies Skipper bagged 3-29 runs to help the team move to third in the tables and step closer to the knock out round.
The reigning West Indies Women player of the year became only third female player to surpass 5000 runs in ODI’s last December behind England’s Charlotte Edwards and India’s Mithali Raj.
She was also the fastest to reach the 5000-run milestone in 126 innings and the first to also to simultaneously have 100 wickets in the format.
The Windies, who are currently third in the World Cup standings with six points from three wins, could secure their advancement with victory over Pakistan on Monday, if other result go their way.
