International praise continues to flow for Barbados Prime Minister Most Honorable Mia Mottley as she was listed among Time Magazine’s 100 most influential persons of the year.
Prime Minster Mottley, was recognized among the top influencers in the world within the leaders category.
The Bajan leader who was comfortably returned as head of the country in January, was also given the cover of the category for the international renowned publication.
The Erudite Queen’s Council (QC) was given the cover over fellow recognized leaders such as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Us President Joe Biden and Ketanji Brown Jackson the first black woman appointed as Justice of the US Supreme court among others.
Director-general of the World Trade Organization Okonjo-Iweala, who authored QC Mottley’s article of achievements, describes her as someone who stands tall amongst her peers on global issues.
“There are some who stand tall and stand out no matter where they are from—whether a large, densely populated country or a small island nation.”
“Prime Minister Mia Mottley of Barbados is one such person. Bold, fearless, and possessing a great intellect and wit, the Prime Minister is a brilliant politician who knows how to shake things up ” she wrote.
Noting her passion for actioning real change and bringing light to pressing crisis’s
“Since she was a young woman growing up in the Caribbean, Mia Mottley has always cared deeply about critical issues impacting the world”.
“From poverty to debt to climate change, she is a vocal advocate on the world stage for responsible stewardship of our planet, so that nations large and small and people rich and poor can survive and thrive together.”
PM Mottley, is the second Barbadian to be named on the prestigious list of world influencers. Her addition proceeds none other than the country’s very own National Hero Robyn Rihanna Fenty, NH.
‘Ri Ri was name among the Time’s top 100 global influencers in 2018’s review.
An honor which was bestowed coincidentally by the Bajan PM as part of the country’s transition to Republic status earlier this year.
Prime Minister Mottley was also a recipient of the Director-General’s Global Health Leadership Award, from the World Health Organization (WHO) in March.
The accolade which was presented by the organization’s director Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, was in recognition of her staunch advocacy on climate change and other Geo-Social related issues.
