Jose Mourinho led Italian Serie A club AS Roma to European glory in his first season the in charge as they clipped Feyenoord 1-0 to lift the Europa Conference League Finals in Tirana on Wednesday.

Attacker Nicolo Zaniolo ‘s 32nd minute goal turned out to be the difference in an intense game between the two finalists.

Zaniolo chested down Gianluca Mancini’s lofted pass before beating goalkeeper Justin Bijlow with a clever flick to hand them a well deserved lead and eventual lead after persistent press by the Italians.

Mourinho, who has won the Champions League, Europa League and the Uefa Cup, is the first manager to win all of Uefa’s major European trophies.

The result represents a full circle of events for the Portuguese who was criticised after Roma were embarrassed 6-1 in Norway by Bodo/Glimt in last season’s group stage.

The win ensures that the former Chelsea and Manchester United manager maintains his perfect record in European finals, having now won five of his last five championships finals.

Mourinho last led Man U to the Europa Cup finals in 2017 their last major trophy before his acrimonious  departure from the club in 2018.
