General Secretary of the Jamaica Labour Party Dr Horace Chang has expressed sincere condolences to the family and colleagues of slain JLP Councilor-caretaker for the Southboro Division in St Catherine, Lennox Hines.
Councilor Hines was gunned down by unknown assailants while he waited at the stop light under the bridge at the entrance to the Portmore toll road last evening.
In addition, Head of the St Andrew South Police Division, Senior Superintendent Kirk Ricketts, also indicated that the triggermen were after Hines.
In a statement, Minister Chang alluded that Mr. Hines was a beloved family man, and his untimely passing will not go unpunished.
“He was a family man who worked hard for his family and the division he sought to represent. We express condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues, ” Dr Chang noted.
“The police have advised us that they are investigating, and the party will be monitoring to ensure the criminal perpetrators are brought to justice. We are also praying for the other person who was injured and his daughter who was also in the car.
The family was in the middle of planning their wedding which makes this murder even more tragic ,” He added
Meanwhile, Dr Chang also indicated that the party has been in contact with East Central St. Catherine Member of Parliament Alando Terrelonge, to assist in supporting the family in this time of sorrow.
