The Jamaica Police Federation has won its 2019 lawsuit against the Ministry of National Security as well as the Attorney General and the Police Commissioner relating to unpaid overtime wages for rank-and-file members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force.

The ruling which was handed down in the Supreme Court earlier on, alluded that rank-and-file police officers would be paid on the 10 hours overtime that they worked.

 In addition, the court has also ordered the government to pay the 10 hours of overtime for police officers until March 31, 2023, and foot the Federation’s legal fees.

Furthermore, the government has been ordered to put in place by March 31, 2023, the system it said was needed to properly quantify the overtime hours of the police so that members can be accurately compensated.

The federation however was not awarded damages following a statement which suggested that its members were paid for 10 hours of overtime since April 2008.
