The Under 20 Reggae Boyz team is just one match away from qualifying for the World Cup after beating Haiti 2-1 in an exciting round of 16 fixture in the CONCACAF Championships on Sunday.
The result means that another victory will see Jamaica advance to football’s biggest show piece.
Goals from Jahmari Clark and Tarick Ximinez ensured that Jamaica’s journey continued with a purposeful display to get the better of their Caribbean.
Clark opened the scoring as early as the fourth minute to stun the Haitians as the Boyz showed more purpose thought out the game.
The young boyz looked very impressive in attack and created several opportunities to add the score line but were unable to pierce a more fortified looking Haiti defense.
They would have to wait until the 83rd minute to double the score as Ximinez clinched the fixture for the Reggae Boyz after Haiti’s Jeudy leveled the contest in the 50th minute.
Jamaica was however, able to hold on to their 2-1 lead until the final whistle which confirmed their quarter final passage.
The Boyz who have now qualified for the last eight of the competition will have the opportunity to be part advance to World Cup as one of the four semifinalist should they be victorious in the quarter finals game.
Reggae Boyz will now face the Dominican Republic on Tuesday in that all important Cup qualifying fixture at the OLÍMPICO METROPOLITANO stadium,Honduras.
