An Egyptian man was convicted of capital murder in the 2008 killing of his two teenage daughters citing his disapproval in their choice of men.
The accused Yaser Abdel Said was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the brutal slayings of 18-year-old Amina and 17-year-old Sara following a three-hour deliberation by the Dallas County Jury on Tuesday August 9.
Reports indicate that on January 1, 2008, the accused took his daughters for a ride in a taxi, hours later both bodies of Sara and Amina were found riddled with gunshot wounds.
Reports further stated that a few moments before her death, Sara made a frantic call to a 911 operator outlining that she had been shot by her father.
By the time the police located the cab, the sisters were dead, and Said had disappeared, along with his handgun and all of his savings.
Said remain on the run for 12-years but was captured by FBI agents on August 6,2020 in Justin Texas.
During his court appearance on Monday, Said denied having any involvement in the killings but alluded that both teenagers were killed by a man who followed them to the restaurant.
“I did not expect anyone would harm them. I was fearful someone would attack him, so I left my daughters in the taxi and escaped into nearby woods” Said testified.
Meanwhile, District Attorney Creuzot outlined that while the sentence handed down will not revive the slain teenagers, efforts will be made by himself and his team members to ensure that justice is served.
Dallas County has shown Mr. Said that there is no excuse for taking another human life. He must now spend the rest of his days confined to a prison cell living under the control of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice ” Creuzot stated
“While this verdict does not bring Sarah and Amina back, my office and this jury have done all that is in our power to see that justice is done,” the attorney added.
