Military paraphernalia and M16 rifle seized in Kingston

Investigators assigned to the Kingston policing division have seized an M16 rifle with a converted magazine containing 13 rounds of ammunition following a routine operation in Rose Garden in the parish.

In addition, the firearm and ammunition, lawmen also seized several navy-blue police uniforms as well Jamaica Defence Force uniforms.

Reports indicate that sometime before 2:00 p.m., were on routine patrol in the area when they searched a property located at 48 and a half upper Smith Lane.

During the search the items were seized, and seven suspects were taken into custody in relation to the find.

Their identities however are being withheld pending further investigation; however, they are slated to be charged at a later date.

The island has so far seen an uptick in firearm and ammunition seizure with the Kingston and St Andrew policing division clocking the lead with an increased amount of firearm and ammunition seizures.
