A Jamaican was arrested in Florida on Wednesday for voting as an unqualified elector on two occasions this year. It was also discovered that the accused Alfred Samuels was also living in the United States illegally.
Samuels’ arrest comes as a presumed debate continues around the first arrests made this summer by the first-of-its-kind Election Crime Unit.
The accused also faces five years in prison and a $5,000 fine for two counts of voting as an unqualified elector.
Reports from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement alluded that Samuels voted in two Broward Special Elections in January and March.
Additionally, he had registered to vote in Broward County in March 2021 under the alias Alford Nelson, using a counterfeit birth certificate from New York City.
Further reports also outlined that Samuels used seven different aliases and served time in prison for 11 felonies which includes cocaine possession, selling and purchasing drugs within 1000 feet of a school and resisting arrest with violence and trafficking cocaine.
