The Director of Public Prosecution Paula Llewellyn has ruled that MP for Kingston East and Port Royal and Shadow Minister for Energy and Mining Phillip Paulwell will be charged sometime this week in relation to the loss of his firearm.

The MP is expected to be charged with criminal negligence in relation to the ordeal.

This decision was rendered a few weeks ago following an investigation which was conducted by the Half Way Tree Police.

It is understood that in July, Paulwell took ill and stopped at a friend’s house in St Andrew. While at the property, it was reported that men travelling in Toyota Probox motor car, smashed the vehicle and removed the pouch containing the firearm.

Subsequently, Mr. Paulwell filed a report with the police stating that thieves broke into his vehicle and stole his firearm along with several rounds of ammunition.
