The suspect charged with murder in the fatal shooting of Migos rapper Takeoff in Houston has been released on a US$1 million bond.

According to reports, the man who was identified as 33-year-old Patrick Xavier Clark was released from the Harris County jail on Tuesday.

Clark was arrested on December 1 in connection with the rapper’s shooting and subsequently charged with murder.

His attorney, Letitia Quinones, has said Clark has a “valid and meritorious claim for self-defense.”

Takeoff whose given name is Kirsnick Khari Ball, was reported to have been shot in the head and back on November 1, as more than 30 people were leaving a private party at a bowling center in Houston.

Houston police have stated that the gunfire followed a disagreement over a “lucrative” game of dice, but that Takeoff was not involved and was “an innocent bystander.”

The 28-year-old was the youngest member of the Grammy-nominated rap trio.

It’s further understood that Clark’s release is governed by strict conditions such as being placed under house arrest as well as wearing a GPS tracking device at all times.

The conditions also stipulate that he must avoid contact with anyone involved in the shooting investigation.

Clark is scheduled to appear in court again on March 9.
