Two firearms and several rounds of ammunition were seized in an ongoing major police/military operation in St James.

Among the items seized were a Glock pistol, a submachine gun, and 40 rounds of ammunition which were recovered during simultaneous operations across the parish.

In addition, lawmen have apprehended 11 suspects in connection with the find.

It is reported that a police team comprising of the special operations team along with military personnel acting on information gathered, went to an undisclosed location in St James to retrieve firearms and ammunition and apprehend suspects that have been linked to the drug-for-gun trade and other major crimes in the parish.

Police also state that the operation has yielded avid results; however, increased efforts will be made to minimize gun violence and seize every illegal gun.
