According to fans, yesterday’s clash between Manchester United and Liverpool is the best football match of the year so far.
It was expected to be a challenging one for the club rivals as both teams recognise the fixture as an opportunity to self evaluate, build morale and secure a spot in the next round of the FA Cup. The match ended 3-2 in favour of Manchester United which means Liverpool is out of the competition.
As one would expect, United fans are excited while Liverpool fans are very much disappointed. However, irrespective of the end result there are many positives to draw from the exciting fixture.
United’s goals came from Greenwood 26 minutes, Marcus Rashford at minute 48, Mason in and a late clinical freekick by Bruno Fernandes at 78 minutes. Meanwhile, Liverpool can rest assured that their talisman Mohamed Salah is in top form. Salah scored twice, once at 18 and again at 58 minutes.
Manchester United now looks to extend and or maintain their lead atop the Premier League standings this Wednesday against Sheffield United while Liverpool looks to retain their spot in the top four against 5th place Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday.
Unfortunately, both teams couldn’t win but congratulations to United and Liverpool knows better than to let the recent defeat keep them down.
