Klay Thompson dropped a game-high 42 points as defending NBA champions Golden State Warriors thrashed the Oklahoma City Thunder (OKC) 141-114 at the Chase Center to make it back-to-back wins over OKC on Monday
Thompson shouldered the bulk of the scoring for the Warriors who played without their talisman Steph Curry- out with a leg injury.
The four-time NBA champion showed was more than capable of the role after knocking down 27 points in the first half alone, 21 of those coming via three-pointers.
The Warriors went into the break up by seven points after claiming the first quarters 31-30 and 29-16; for a 60-53-point lead.
It was more of the same dominance by the Warriors they broke 100 points in the third quarter as Jordan Poole 21 points and Andrew Wiggins-18 points also got in the action for a 101-97 lead.
Thompson, however, returned to commandeer the fourth quarter after adding five more three-pointers for an overall 12 threes in the game to help push him to his third 40-point game of the season.
The feat was also the third most three points made in-game in NBA history.
The win, their 28th of the season keeps them in a top-seven playoff spot in the Western Conference.
