An Irish man was killed after being mauled by a Brahma chicken at his farm in Killahornia, Ireland on April 28, 2022, according to reports.

The deceased has been identified as 67-year-old Jasper Kraus.

A deposition from the victim’s daughter Virginia Guinan revealed that on the day in question, Kraus had fallen asleep after ingesting his medication.

Moments after his nap, Kraus reportedly went to the farmhouse to check on the brood when the rooster lunged at him and pecked him mercilessly.

Kraus’ tenant Corey O’Keefe recalled that he heard screaming coming from the chicken coop and went to ascertain the source of the screams.

Shortly after, O’Keefe discovered Kraus lying in a pool of blood with a gaping wound to the back of his leg. A call was subsequently made to the emergency respondents who instructed him to perform CPR until their arrival.

The CPR was however unsuccessful, and Kraus was later pronounced dead. His body was later removed and sent to the morgue for a post-mortem.

A report from the medical examiner later revealed that the victim’s cause of death was due to lethal cardiac arrhythmia (heart attack) which was caused by the initial attack.
