Nicki Minaj is kicking off Carnival season with a bang after linking up with Soca giants Destra Garcia and Machel Montano for the remix to their track ‘Shake the Place’.
The Trinidad-born MC who was spotted in the Caribbean country recently also dropped the teaser for a remix via her Instagram account on Friday.
The single is the first Soca song-themed effort by the rapper and the latest in a series of collaborations between the rapper and Caribbean acts in recent times.
It’s also the second time in quick succession that both Minaj and Destra have linked up, having featured on the all-female ‘Likkle Miss remix’- fine nine remix.
That track also includes several of the Caribbean’s other heavy hitters such as Spice, Patrice Roberts, Pamputtae, and Dovey Magnum, as well as top UK-based female MCs- Lady Leshurr, Lisa Mercedez, and London Hill.
The Cash money rapper had been heavily in support of Dancehall star Skeng Don in his rise ultimately teaming up for the remix to his ‘Likkle Miss’ track, which also became a viral hit.
The Queen Barbie had previously teamed up with fellow dancehall star- Skillibeng for the Crocodile Teeth remix which broke onto the Billboard hot 100 charts in 2020.
