A Chicago man is facing a slew of charges after allegedly robbing a man at gunpoint before remaining at the crime scene to indulge in the victim’s fried chicken.
Reports from Chicago media outlets say that police allegedly found James Taylor, 20, the suspected chicken bandit, still in the area of his alleged crime gorging down the victim’s meal.
It’s understood that the victim, parked in front of his home at approximately 1:30 a.m. on Saturday and began walking toward his dwelling chicken in hand before his journey was interrupted by Taylor
It reported that he was initially asked for a lighter, which he declared to be without before Taylor then tapped him on the shoulder, pointing a pistol at his face, once he turned around prosecutor Kenneth Flesch said.
The victim handed over his keys, $2 in cash, a debit card, and the fried chicken.
According to Flesch, Taylor then climbed into the victim’s car and began to eat the chicken.
It was during this time the robbery victim had allegedly rushed to call the police who reached on location minutes later.
It’s further reported that he was slapped with charges of; armed robbery with a firearm, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, aggravated possession of a stolen motor vehicle, and illegal possession of a debit card.
Taylor’s bail was set at US$15,000 with the condition of home electronic monitoring.
The judge advised Taylor that he faces a minimum sentence of 21 years behind bars if convicted of the armed robbery charge.
