Tottenham Hotspur will have to wait another year for a return to the championship round as they were booted from the competition by AC Milan after failing to overturn a 1-0 deficit in their second-leg fixture on Wednesday.

Tottenham who was playing on turf at the Tottenham Hotspurs stadium was seemingly unable to benefit from that extra support by the fans as Milan was able to hold off the English team to advance to the last eight by the narrowest of margins.

The result albeit disappointing was not unexpected given their current form.

The Spurs have racked up losses in their back-to-back games prior to Wednesday’s fixture. Losses include their FA Cup fifth-round exit to Sheffield United last week.

Milan on the other hand now joins Chelsea, Benfica, and Bayern Munich as early qualifiers for the quarter-final round of the tournament.
