Well-known businessman, Mark Croskery, has filed a lawsuit against the Jamaica Gleaner and journalist Jovan Johnson.

Documents seen by SLEEK confirm that the suit was filed as Croskery continues his pushback against a series of recent publications on traditional and social media.

The lawsuit was filed on Tuesday in the Supreme Court in Kingston by Croskery’s Attorney, Monique Morrison.

The Gleaner is listed as the first defendant while Johnson is listed as the second defendant.

“I can confirm that my client Mark Croskery has filed a lawsuit in the Supreme Court of Jamaica against the Jamaica Gleaner and its agent Jovan Johnson. The matter is subjudice and I will therefore limit comment” – Attorney Morrison said in a statement to the media.

“However, I take the opportunity to point out that Mr. Croskery is intent on using the court where necessary to hold to achieve justice in situations where he feels he has been wronged”, said Attorney Morrison.

Croskery’s father, Hugh was up until recently a senior figure at the fraud hit entity Stocks and Securities Limited (SSL).

The younger Croskery is seeking damages for defamation, negligence and aggravated damages.

He has asked the court to grant him legal costs and any other further relief the Court may deem fit.

The legal action taken by the younger Croskery is reportedly concerning a publication made by the Gleaner a few weeks ago regarding the SSL saga.

Last month, Croskery sued blogger and entertainment personality, Shelly-Ann Curran.

The businessman is also seeking damages and aggravated damages in that case.
