As Lisa Hanna walks away from representational politics, delegates of the People’s National Party (PNP) on Sunday voted in the South East St Ann Constituency to elect a representative to contest in the next General Elections but none was successful.

Voting began at 10 A.M. and at minutes into Sunday night no winner could be announced as none received the percentage needed to be confirmed winner.

Political newcomer Dr. Kenneth Russell secured 358 or 46.2 per cent, Wavell Hinds secured 245 or 31.6 per cent and Patricia Duncan Sutherland was left out in the cold with 171 or 22 per cent.

The results of the internal election now leaves the PNP president with a difficult task to select a winner.

This to many is shocking following an official poll done by Don Anderson which showed the delegates and PNP supporters preferred Hinds as their new political representative.

The PNP is selecting a candidate in the seat considered a stronghold after Lisa Hanna indicated she would not contest the next general elections.

Hanna won the seat by almost 4,000 votes each time in the three general elections between 2007 and 2016, before squeezing home by just 31 votes in 2020.

General Secretary Dr. Dayton Campbell informed SLEEK news that discussions will now be had as to the way forward.
