The Private Sector Organisation of Jamaica, PSOJ is launching an Initial Public Offering, IPO, for Project STAR on the Jamaica Social Stock Exchange.
According to Co-Chairman of Project STAR, Keith Duncan, the move to list the initiative on the Jamaica Social Stock Exchange is intended to unlock economic and social opportunities in deprived communities.
He says at the end of the day Jamaica will have “ social, cohesive communities in partnership with the Jamaica Constabulary Force, and the Ministries and Agencies that have anything to do with social programs in a coordinated way.”
Meanwhile, Chairman of the Jamaica Stock Exchange, Julian Mair, says he expects the initiative to galvanize people of varying skill sets, as he sees this approach as innovative.
The objective of his Initial Public Offering, IPO, is to raise 100 million, with each share being offered at 1 dollar.
