Dancehall pop superstar Sean Paul is rejoicing as he is the first Jamaican dancehall act to have three albums that have surpassed one billion streams on Spotify.

This is according to Spotify data obtained and curated by local music data site WMV.

At the top of the data dancehall album ranking is Paul’s Billboard No. 1 18-track ‘Dutty Classics Collections‘ which also has a deluxe version that has been streamed 2,188,284,523 times as of June 30, 2023.

This album is a mainstay on the weekly U.S. Billboard Reggae Albums chart and is loved by many.

“Mad Love The Prequel” EP is his second most streamed project on Spotify with  1,553,412,635 streams as of June 30, 2023.

This Ep is driven by the top-selling pop-dancehall single ‘No Lie’ Ft. Dua Lipa which has 943,302,289 streams on Spotify.

His third album is ‘Dutty Rock’ which celebrated its 20th anniversary earlier this year and is loved by most Jamaicans – has been streamed 1,091,060,636 as of June 30, 2023, on Spotify.

No other dancehall artiste has achieved this feat in streams for albums.

In the meantime, according to the data from Spotify for last year Vybz Kartel, Alkaline, Masicka, and Skillibeng were among the most-played artistes, both globally and locally and Sean Paul was second to Bob Marley & The Wailers as the most played Jamaican artistes outside the island and it’s likely that he may be heading to the number #1 spot this year.
