Veteran reggae singer Freddie McGregor who suffered a stroke about eight months ago, while performing with his children was honoured with the prestigious Red Stripe ‘Living Legend award’ on night two of Reggae Sumfest 2023.
He was honoured for his contribution to the development and longevity of reggae music globally.
The set was dubbed, “The Freddie McGregor Salute”, which saw him get emotional while singing for his fans at the Caribbean Airlines sponsored festival. McGregor expressed how much he missed his supporters and friends.
The Big Ship Captain did a 30-minute set seated, with his sons Stephen ‘Di Genius’ and Chino who both performed earlier before bringing out their father.
The veteran artiste belted out a slew of his hits and had Sumfest patrons dancing and singing none stop.
The Big Ship kept sailing through night two of Reggae Sumfest and gets the stamp of approval as one of the most impactful and memorable performances throughout the festival weekend.
