Beenie Man, Buju Banton, Collie Buddz, Burning Spear and Julian Marley are the 2024 Grammy nominees for Best Reggae Album.

The nominees were officially revealed by the Recording Academy/Grammys on Friday.

In one of the most interesting reveals in recent times, the 2024 candidates will have three previous winners vying for the award and one newcomer to the list.

Former winner Beenie Man earned his fourth nomination for his album “Simma.” The nomination marks a grand return since his “Art and Life” captured the award in 2001.

2010 winner Buju Banton will also make a return to the Grammys for the sixth time after his Roc Nation-produced project “Born for Greatness” was given the nod on Friday. It was a quick turnaround for “The Gargamel,” whose Upside Down 2020 was also nominated that year.

Banton’s “Before The Dawn” secured the top honour in 2010.

Legendary singer Burning Spear earned his 13th nomination for “No Destroyer,” and will be looking to add to his two wins while Julian Marley celebrates his third nod for Colors of Royal.

Buddz will, however, make his maiden appearance in the category after snagging his first Reggae Grammy nomination for “Cali Roots Riddim 2023.”

The final round of voting opens on Friday and closes on January 4, with the winner being announced on February 4.

Last year dub-reggae star Kabaka Pyramid walked away with his first Grammy Award for “The Kalling.”
