The argument around capitalizing on brand strength outside of music has always been a hot topic. Given the resurgence of interest in Dancehall culture, we explore a few stars who have leveraged their fame to create their own brands.

Diplomat wear -by Valiant

Dancehall star Valiant has wasted no time maximising his increasingly popular diplomat movement with the launch of his line Diplomat Wear in 2023. The Speed Off hitmaker, who has enjoyed success since his break in 2022, has shown his business acumen with the expansion of his brand identity outside of the studio with the venture.

Unruly brand -Popcaan

Undoubtedly one of the more recognisable brands within the dancehall space, Popcaan has managed to capitalise on his “unruly” image and notoriety with his “Unruly” clothing line.

The apparel line, which started in 2018 has gradually grown in visibility over the years as the brand mirrors his increased status as a global star.

DNDG-Ding Dong

Ravers Clavers boss Ding Dong has ventured into the fashion and clothing industry with his line DNDG. The Dancer and Artiste, known for his unique and trendsetting image, has released pieces that mirror his swag and style which has gained admiration

The urban flair of his debut pieces mirrors a lot of his swag and style which has gained admiration person that are style.

Graci Noir-Spice

The” Queen of Stage” Spice knows all about the power of personal branding, having previously opened her popular Spicey Couture clothes store and transitioned that brand into a full-fledged fashion line-Graci Noir in 2020.

Before the launch, the highly interactive entertainer incorporated fan opinion to decide on the logo design, making the line a more personal release between fans and the Grammy-nominated artiste.

Konshens – Konz876 sneakers

In 2013, Konshens helped push the boundaries of brand strength in dancehall following the launch of his sneaker line “Konz876.” The successful launch of the shoe also saw the opening of a dedicated store for the ‘Dancehall footwear.’ before it was discontinued a year later.

Street Vybz Rum-Vybz Kartel

Dancehall “Worl Boss,” Vybz Kartel, who was said to be on the verge of launching his shoe line “addies” prior to his arrest in 2011, did, however, enjoy a successful entry into the alcohol beverage market with his Street Vybz Rum.

Street Vybz’s popularity rocketed due to its affiliation with the artitse as well as the iconic Juggling inspired by the beverage, serving as additional marketing for the brand.
