Defending men’s 110m Hurdles Olympic champion Hansle Parchment is eligible to become among the most decorated Olympic medalists in the event and join a handful of men who successfully defended their crown.

Parchment, who claimed his maiden Olympic title at the 2020 games in Tokyo following his bronze medal in London 2012, was not only the second Jamaican to win the crown behind Omar McLeod(2016) but was also the 13th man in the championship’s history to win multiple medals in the discipline.

The Jamaican’s bronze and gold put him at joint fifth on the list of all-time medalists based on quality of medals.

Parchment, who had one of his career-best seasons last year after storming to a personal record of 12.93 seconds on his way to his first Diamond League final trophy, is among the favourites to defend their titles ahead of qualifiers.

Should Parchment gain gold in Paris, he will be the third man in the event’s history to do so at the Olympics. It would catapult him atop the medal list.

The USA pair of Lee Calhoun(1956-60) and Roger Kingdom(1984-88) are joint leaders with two gold medals each.
