According to the Walk of Fame, following the selection of honorees, a $75,000 fee is charged. The sum, they say, is used “to pay for the creation and installation of the star, as well as maintenance of the Walk of Fame.”

Each year, approximately 24-30 names are selected from a pool of nominees for the annual insertion along Hollywood Boulevard. Selection is done by a committee of experts from the fields of Entertainment and Sports.
