The “Deadpool and Wolverine” movie has clawed its way into Box Office history after breaking several records in its opening weekend including the highest gross for an R-rated film.
The Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman starred flick returned a global pull of $438.3 million with a domestic haul of $205 million following its premiere on Friday, as per Deadline.
The feat sees the film eclipse the previous record of $264M by its 2016 predecessor, Deadpool.
Other records set by the Marvel film include:
“Biggest Global opening since Avatar The Way of Water ($439M in like-for-like markets at current rates) and Highest July opening weekend of all-time at the domestic Box Office, surpassing The Lion King ($191.8M)” Deadline reports.
The film now ranks as the fifth-highest-grossing Superhero production on an opening weekend of all time behind Avengers: Endgame, Spider-Man: No Way Home, Avengers: Infinity War, and The Avengers and stands at number eight in an opening domestic weekend of all time.
