Pop star Mariah Carey is grieving the loss of her mother and sister who reportedly passed away on the same day over the weekend.

According to reports the singer shared the news of her loss via statement.

“My heart is broken that I’ve lost my mother this past weekend. Sadly, in a tragic turn of events, my sister lost her life on the same day.“

Mariah added, “I feel blessed that I was able to spend the last week with my mom before she passed.”

The many-time Grammy-winner concluded her statement by thanking fans for support, and asking for privacy as she grieves.

“I appreciate everyone’s love and support and respect for my privacy during this impossible time.”

The circumstances surrounding the reported passing of both women remains unknown.
