The appetite for new music from Vybz Kartel was fully evident as his latest single “The Comet” became the number one trending song on YouTube.

The single premiered on Friday, marking Kartel’s first official drop since his release from a 13-year sentence in July. The song racked up over 600,000 streams in its first 19 hours.

In addition to its top trending status on YouTube, “The Comet” has also broken into the top five most downloaded songs in reggae on Apple Music.

The song’s success adds to the anticipation of his highly anticipated Freedom Street New Year’s Eve concert to be held at the National Stadium in Kingston.
