In one of the most bizarre cases of stringent security measures, a bedridden Chinese man was reported pushed to a local bank branch by family members his family to confirm his identity for a money transfer.
A now-viral video making the rounds on Chinese social media shows a woman struggling to transport a man on a hospital bed in a Shandong Province bank after being instructed that the sick relative had to make an in-person appearance to confirm his identity.
According to reports, the extreme measures were taken as the bank manager remained resolute in a personal appearance to access the account despite the relative explanation of the severity of his condition.
The man was so sick that he could not move on his own, but even evidence of his hospitalization failed to convince the bank staff, so they had no choice but to figure out a way to bring him in for identity confirmation.
It’s understood that the Shandong bank told the family to bring the account holder in an ambulance, given the unavailability of such transport for a non-emergency matter, the only alternative was to manually push the bed with him to the bank.
It’s understood that the man’s relatives reportedly needed money to pay for his treatment, which ironically forced them to endanger his life by taking him out of the hospital.
