Jamaica’s men’s 100m Olympic silver medalist Kishane Thompson is set to make his indoor season debut when he lines up in the 60m at the Astana Indoor Meet on January 25.

Thomspon was announced for the meeting on Thursday, which is also scheduled to be the first World Athletics Indoor Tour Gold meeting on the 2025 track calendar, World Athletics reports.

Tokyo Olympic 200m champion, Canada’s Andre De Grasse, was the other noted name confirmed to line up over the distance with the Jamaican national champion.

The Jamaican National Champion competition in Astana is set to face Canada’s Andre De Grasse, the Tokyo Olympic 200m champion who ran 6.66 to finish sixth in the final in Astana last year.

The race is set to be Thompson’s first official competitive meeting since claiming Olympic silver in what was the closest men’s 100m final games history at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Just missing gold by 100th of a second to USA’s Noah Lyles, who both shared a 9.79s clocking.
