Jamaica Sprint sensations Kishane Thompson and Tia Clayton have gotten their 2025 track season out of the blocks to a winning start following victories over 60m at the Central Hurdles, Relays, and Field Event meet on Saturday.

Thompson, who was announced as the headliner for his indoor opening meet in Astana Astana, Kazakhstan, next week, previewed his speed with a nifty 6.48 seconds, clocking into a strong -2.1 headwind to easily claim victory in his first official race of the year.

The win comes hours after the Olympic men’s 100m Silver medalist was honoured along with several athletes during the Annual RJR/Gleaner Sportsman and Woman Of The Year Awards on Friday.

Olympic women’s 100m finalist Clayton also showed solid early form in her season opener with a comfortable 7.14 seconds to take her victory.

The former World U-20 Sprint Champion and fellow MVP track sprinter is also set to compete in Astana over 60m next week.
