Social Media Giant TikTok has officially halted operations in the US in compliance with the January 19 ban. Users have taken to social media to react to being officially barred from accessing the platform in the country.
Online users in the US, who attempted to access the app as early as later 10 pm on Saturday were stopped at a prompt which explained the ban enacted hours ahead of its Sunday deadline.
The platform’s follow through “going dark” in the US potentially temporarily disappointed many following reports that President Joe Biden would not enforce it but would leave it up to incoming head of state Donald Trump.
With the Billionaire set to begin his second tenure on Monday, all eyes are now fixed on the reported options he said to be exploring to keep the app active in the country.
