The impact of Vybz Kartel’s first official performance in the US continues to be felt as his releases “Str8 Vybz” and “Ignite The World” have become the number one and three most streamed videos in the Reggae Category on Apple Music.

Kartel, whose back-to-back sold-out performances at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn dominated global entertainment interests over the weekend, was his first time performing in the US in 20 years.

The reception mirrored the magnitude of the occasion as the capacity venue hung on to every lyric, gimmick and engagement of the world boss’s performance.

Streams for his music, which has been on the rise since his release last year, were further boosted by the music videos for fan favourites dropped during his incarceration like “Ignite the World” and “Miami Vice Episode.

The surge was also seen on iTunes as his 2009 Classic “Brooklyn Anthem”, which is a homage to the host borough, also experienced a resurgence on the platform, breaking into the top 20 most downloaded songs in Reggae with current hit “God Is The Greatest” hovering among the top four on the chart.

The event, which was extended to two nights based on the overwhelming demand, became a star-studded affair with several of music stars in attendance as patrons or performers.
