Jamaica’s Britany Anderson, Megan Tapper and Yanique Thompson all progressed to the women’s 100m hurdles semi-final, after fairly comfortable performances in their respective heats at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games a short while ago.
Tapper, the national champion running from lane four in heat five, was the fastest Jamaican through as she was fast and powerful over the hurdles on her way to a second-place finish in a new personal best 12.53s.
Anderson, drawn outside in heat four was out fast and clipped the second hurdle which caused a slight stumble, but the in-form 20-year-old recovered well to win with consummate ease in 12.67s.
Meanwhile, Thompson also went out hard smooth over hurdles to finish second from lane seven in heat three in 12.74s.
The semis are scheduled for 5:45 am on Sunday.
